Oops: we forgot about our new KAL!

We forgot our new KAL!

How could we be so silly? Our friend Jess walked in the shop a few weeks ago during our Thursday Stitch group and proceeded to show off her finished Flores Sweater. Her finished object was such a breezy knit that we all decided to cast on and make it the new shop knit along.

We will kick off knitting our sweaters on Thursday, May 7th. If you’d like to join us, we would love to have you!

Yarn: Meadow from The Fibre Co or Merino Linen Singles from Twisted Willow

Pattern: Flores from Eri Shimizu

Ground rules: yarn must be purchased from OMR to participate. Virtual participation is fine, just tag us in your social media posts! Any sweaters finished by July 30th will be entered in a drawing to win a $75 OMR gift card!

As always, swatching is requested and if you come in for help the first thing we will ask is what did your swatch tell you? Help is free anyways, but a knit along is more like a guided class and there is usually more help offered than normal during the week.

New in the shop:

Cotton+Merino, Cotton+Merino Shadows, & Cotton+Merino Chic from Juniper Moon Farm! We are so excited to introduce this blend to our customers, especially since the majority of us live in Georgia. Cotton+Merino is a blend of 70% cotton and 30% merino wool and is adaptable to both a dk and worsted gauge. We have three different samples in the shop for you to examine: Lincoln Park Poncho, Stratus Hat, and the Wave of Change Cardigan.

We also have two new sock yarns: Uneek Sock Sets from Urth Yarns and Comfy Sock from Lilac & Vine. Lilac & Vine is a new hand dyed yarn in the shop and the Comfy sock base is extra bouncy, made from 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon. The Uneek Sock kits come with the pattern included, and are split into two adorable 50g balls so that each sock matches perfectly.

Shop news:

Our next movie night will be June 23rd & we will be watching Birdcage. Signups are live now. As always this is a free event & spots will be limited so if you want to join us don't forget to register!

CHANGE IN SHOP HOURS

Starting in May after Memorial Day, shop hours will change on Thursday. We will now be open from 10am-4pm instead of 12-6pm. There will be no more specific free help night, but instead we are encouraging people who need help to come for help on Wednesdays and Fridays. As always, help will be free. If you need more than 5-10 minutes we encourage you to book a lesson!

We are also implementing an Adult Supervision class with Gabby! This will be a twice a month on Friday afternoons for people that need more than what free help offers but less than a lesson. The class will be capped at 6 people and will be for students working on their own individual projects. This is great for students who need help getting started or picking up a project after a long while, or anyone who just wants a guided help session! The June dates for this class will be June 5th & June 26th from 2-3pm and the cost for this class will be $25.
